The design of Polestar 2 interior is to be as minimalist as possible while still being luxurious. Materials in the interior look and feel very comfortable and expensive at the same time. You get both conventional and modern feeling from the interior of Polestar 2.
With that, here we are listing some of the most interesting interior features of Polestar 2.
1. Steering Wheel
The steering wheel look is Volvo style featuring the Polestar logo in the centre.
On the left side, you have got the adaptive cruise control buttons.
In right side, you can select the radio stations and music. Also, make adjustments to the volume with up and down arrows. There is also a voice control command key that you can communicate with the google system.
2. Sunroof
The Polestar 2 Interior comes with a large glass sunroof as a standard feature. There is a built-in reflection of the Polestar logo on the front side of the sunroof.
Panoramic sunroof closes with a blind screen that includes in the newer models in 2023.
3. Seats
The leather used in Polestar 2 interior is dirt- and water-resistant. Some people find the leather and foam of the seats firmer than those in other EVs.
Front seats come with heated seats in the standard model.
Driver Seat
All adjustments of the driver’s seat are powered, except for recline, which is manual. To have the recline powered, you can purchase the optional package.
Two memory seat buttons are available for the driver seat.
Rear Seat
The Polestar 2’s back seat legroom is one of its greatest attributes. It provides a very spacious environment for people with longer legs. Problem with Polestar 2, however, is the height. Someone with a height of 180 cm or 5.9 feet will have narrow headspace in the back seat, which can be uncomfortable for long journeys. The overall legroom in Polestar 2 is about 34 inches.
As is common in all back seats, there is an armrest in the middle section with two cup holders. The cup holders are designed to fit most cups and bottles. The armrest is also adjustable for comfort, and can be folded down and up.
There are two ISOFIX on each side for connecting the child seat to the rear seat.
4. Central Console and Storage
The centre console in Polestar 2 interior is similar to a sports car. It features a central touchscreen that provides all key info from the driver.
Under the infotainment screen, you get a small space for keeping phone or keys.
For the front seats, there are two USB-C chargers. In addition, there is a wireless phone charger that isn’t included in the single model.
In the side of the centre console for both driver and driver assistant seats you get a small storage space to keep a water bottle.
The gear section is huge, and the gear looks great. You can put the car into drive or reverse mode with a single tap on screen. You can drive it in two modes, standard and sports.
The armrest is smaller than other EVs. One cup holder is accessible when the armrest slides to the back. When lifting the armrest, there is a hidden cup holder underneath to use as well. Therefore, under the armrest you won’t have much storage room available.
As usual there are two air-flow vents for the back seats on the centre console. On that, passengers get to have two USB-C chargers.
Also, Glove compartment is an average in size.
5. Mirrors
Rear mirror is frameless and looks very nice in Polestar 2.
The Polestar side mirrors are designed in a way that when you move the mirror, the whole unit moves, rather than just the mirror.
6. Dashboard
In the centre of the dashboard there is a large speaker located. The material of the top part of the dashboard is a soft plastic. There is a speaker underneath that which is covered by a cloth material. And the layer below that is a 3D hexagonal pattern material.
7. Audio System
Polestar 2 is a car featuring a Harmon and Karbon audio stereo system which comes in a premium package.
Speakers are strategically positioned in the car to ensure the best sound quality. This sound system on the Polestar 2 has a power output of 600 watts, which is enough to fill the entire cabin with music.
8. Driver Digital Screen
The driver’s digital display is a 12.3-inch screen. The screen has a couple of different modes that can be altered.
On one of the setups, you get the live speed limit update on the left side of the screen. In the centre, you get a large speedometer and on the right side of the screen, you get the update about the remaining range of the car and battery capacity.
From second setup, you can see the big google maps view at the centre of your screen.
9. Infotainment System
The infotainment system is on a 11.2 inch touchscreen display in the centre console. Polestar and Volvo partnered with Google to make and develop their infotainment system.
Since the system is based on Android and Google, you can easily connect your Google account in the car and have access to all your apps and preferences. Also, you get Google Maps as the primary map in the car.
Another advantage of having the Google system in the infotainment system is that you can use Google assist commands. For example, you can use the Hey Google command to navigate to a destination address and use many other commands. You can even send Google commands to your home if you have a smart home based on Google products.
Through your Google account, you’ll be able to access all your saved locations on the Google map, including charging stations nearby or on the way.
With the infotainment system in your electric car, you can watch Netflix or listen to Spotify while charging. A QR code allows you to automatically log in to your Spotify account if you download Google Play apps, like Spotify. It will save you the time of manually doing it each time.
The infotainment system does not come with AM radio. If you want an AM radio in your car, you will need to download an app for it and connect it to your phone. The infotainment system also does not come with HD radio.
Both the Polestar and Volvo announced to include Apple CarPlay from June 2022 onwards to all the infotainment systems. So previous versions may lack the Apple CarPlay feature.
A home button and all the climate control buttons are always found at the bottom of the screen.
Range Assist
There is a range assist section in the infotainment system that will give information about the projected range, consumption of battery, and whether you are driving on a low or high consumption range.
Climate Control
In order to access the climate control view, you will need to go to the Air Quality app and then select the climate control button from the bottom of the screen. You get a new window for controlling the climate by clicking the climate control icon.
Steering wheel modes
The top of the screen has a car icon that you can use to change the steering wheel mode. You can modify it to a light, standard, or firmer steering wheel. Another feature is the one pedal drive mode, creep mode, or ECS mode.
You can also choose the battery capacity that you want your battery to charge to in the charge section on the same screen. You can also set the rate at which you are charging the car. Also you can see a graphical representation of your battery capacity. You should charge your car at a lower amp if you are at home.
Polly App
If you download the Polly App on your phone. You have all the information about your car on your smartphone if you pair it with it. Also, you can see where the car is parked or see if the car doors are open. Additionally, the climate control can be activated so the car can be pre-cooled or pre-heated according to the environment.
Collision Avoidance
This vehicle is equipped with an infotainment system that has an automatic emergency braking system that detects cyclists and pedestrians.
Extra Features
Adding a pilot light pack will cost you some extra money, if you want adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and 360 camera.
There is also an inbuilt sim card and internet. So you do even need your phone in the car. You will get a life long software update over the air.
10. Ignition Button
The Polestar 2 does not have a starter button or ignition key. It recognizes when the driver is inside and seated, and just needs to be put into gear and off.
As soon as you leave the seat and open the door, everything shuts off automatically.
11. Polestar 2 Trunk
Polestar 2 trunk has quite a decent storage space of 405L. The tailgate is hatchback style and therefore makes it easier to load in luggage in the back of the car. There is a small hidden storage space under the trunk which is all included in the 405L volume.
To open the trunk of Polestar 2 you have few options:
Button on the booth just above the car plate
Button next to the steering wheel
Using the Polly App on the mobile phone
An entirely hands-free option; simply move your foot under the car (activate the tailgate with your foot)
Each side of the trunk has a small space with net covering for keeping stuff intact. There is a tie down point as well as a few hooks.
You also get a 12V socket in the back of the car.
Having a ski hatch in the middle of your back seat allows you to carry longer items when carrying two passengers. You can also fold down the back seats entirely to get more space if you have to carry heavier items.
12. Door Handles
When compared to other EVs on the market, the Polestar 2 has regular door handles made of aluminium.
13. Car Key
In this car, the key is a plastic rectangle, which looks minimalist, but they could’ve done a better design on that front. It has a button on it that lets you open the tailgate. Also, you can open the truck of the car by using the kick key or a button near the car plate.
