OK. We love BMWs. They look fantastic, sporty, luxury, and provide an excellent driving experience. If you love BMWs as much as we do and are curious about EVs, continue reading. In this article, we will briefly explore the BMW iX M60.
BMW iX is an all-electric SUV developed by a German automobile manufacturer. This model combines the BMW models I and M resulting in the “iX M60”.
What is BMW iX m60?
BMW iX M60 is the electric version of the BMW X5 SUV. In terms of design and features, it is very similar to the X5. This vehicle is the first in a new series of all-electric BMW SUVs.
Delivery of the iX M60 began in late 2021. The beginning of the journey to carbon neutrality by 2030. The IX M60 is currently produced at the Dingolfing Plant in Germany, which has high environmental requirements.
BMW iX M60 weighs about 2600 kg, making it a heavy EV in the SUV line. Even though electric motors provide instant torque, this minimizes the impact of weight on performance. The range and energy consumption of the car can, however, be affected.
In a car, luxury can mean comfort, quality, and exclusivity. The BMW iX M60 embodies these qualities, including interior design, materials, technology, and comfort.
What is the BMW IX m60 Range?
The range of an EV depends on many factors, including driving style, car conditions, and the use of features such as climate control and audio system. Also, an EV should charge 80% of its capacity and maintain an ideal battery temperature.
BMW iX M60 range has been estimated between 350-685 km under different conditions:
- Cold city weather — 480 km
- Mild city weather — 685 km
- Cold highway weather — 350 km
- Mild highway weather — 445 km
- Combined cold weather — 410 km
- Combined mild weather — 545 km
The estimated battery range is based on a 110 km/hr highway and 60 km/hr city, which includes regenerative braking quite a bit. Cold weather reduces range because of the car’s need for heating, both in the cabin and for the battery.
You can get a 450 km range with a 21-inch wheel or a 440 km range with 22-inch wheels on a BMW iX.
Battery and Charging
You may wonder about the BMW IX M60 battery capacity. This car has got battery capacity of ~111 kWh. Note that the battery’s usable capacity is about 105 kWh.
Most electric vehicles utilize lithium-ion batteries for their power generation in today’s EV market. Their battery architecture is such that it can provide 400V power but with nominal use of 369V.
The BMW iX M60 has a CCS input port, but what does it mean? It refers to a port that allows the car to charge using alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). In other words, the car can charge with either a regular electrical outlet, like the ones at home, or a special charging station.
One great thing about the BMW iX M60’s charging ability is it is quick. Supporting 11kW AC charging which implies it can charge the battery in a relatively short time. It also performs rapid charging using the CCS connector.
For a full charge (0-100%), Type 2 chargers take about 11 hours to complete. This condition produces a charging speed of 43 km/h. Ideal for overnight charging. On the BMW iX M60, the maximum onboard charger power is 11 kW, and the highest fast charger power is 200 kW.
With a fast charger, it takes about 30 minutes to charge your car at a speed of 650 km/h. In general, it is most effective between 10% and 80%. BMW iX M60 has a maximum DC charging power of 195 kW.
A growing number of charging stations are being made available to BMW customers, and the company is still developing and expanding its charging network. In addition, BMW partners with ChargePoint, EVgo, and Electrify America to offer its customers additional charging options.

How is the Performance of the BMW iX m60?
The car has two electric motors that generate 610 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque in sports mode. The rear and front motors accelerate the vehicle by 3 tons instantly.
It can achieve 0 – 100km in ~3.8 seconds and 0 – 100 mph acceleration time is 7.6 seconds. The top speed in the BMW iX m60 is 250 kph (155 mph).
If the car is moving at 70 mph, it can come to a complete stop with the help of a regenerative braking system within 160 feet.
